Junq - Lila Dreams EP

After a discrete yet successful first release from the likes of James Zeiter aka Analog 1, Furthur Electronix; the imprint created by Anil Lal and Graphic Designer/Artist "Majkel", proudly presents its second outing. Written by the all too rare Junq (Art Mechanical, Wandering Souls), "Lila Dreams EP “; dedicated to his soon to be daughter, serves up a wonderful four tracker of pure Electronica music in the straight prolongement of Rephlex, Warp or Plus 8 Records (well, the ambient stuff for sure!) styles.

The 12” (no digital version), limited to 150 copies, subscribes perfectly to the label’s ADN and philosophy: quality Techno, Electro, IDM and Ambient music, with deep roots coming from Acid.

Reminding me of early Speedy J works, the title track “Lila Dreams” offers on A side some warm synth arpeggios and melodies over a lazy breakbeat rhythm. A classic construction with old school Rave influences turn the cut into a beautiful song perfect to start an EBM mix.

Characterized by powerful beats and cosmic strings, downtempo “Celestial” instantly following propels the listener into a fascinating journey through Space, in quest of exoplanets to populate. Emotive and visionary at the same time!

On the reverse, Electro breaks “Closer” signs in my opinion the true climax of the EP. Fierce Acid lines mute the song into evil by the middle of the cut, while a mental bassline injects some madness into the whole. If you own Junq’s “From Below” cut on Cultivated Electronics 002, then you’ll know what I mean. Sometimes, music can be just easy and simple as that. This track worths by itself the purchase of Further Electronix 02!

Last but not the least, beautiful “The Planets” slows down the rhythm to conclude the 12” on darker yet much anticipating tonalities, enhanced by emotional synth flights and deep ambient atmospheres. This is Electronic Music in its purest form, with no other goals than exploring it to its extreme boundaries; for both dancefloor and home listening pleasures. Must have!

Furthermore, another important aspect on the label comes from the artistic and graphic line. Furthur's releases offer different styles from coloured vinyl to stamped white labels, and stickered. Responsible for the artworks on the label, keeping things fresh with his designs, Majkel is a very talented Graphic Designer and DJ who runs a soundsystem/visual arts company called "DOT", as well as one of the best nightclubs in Stockholm called “Mmmmm”. Martin and Anil run also together the company Ögon & Öron (Eyes & Ears).

Watch this space for more as we will introduce in the next few weeks FE003 written by Cignol. Big announcements will be done at the same time. Waiting for the review, I recommend you to rush on Junq’s essential release, please yourself...you will probably thank me!
